BumbleB Acorn for VS Code
An analyst’s answer, in your editor.
Acorn brings BumbleB Crunch™ into VS Code. Point it at a Postgres database, MongoDB collections, or CSV and Parquet files on your machine, and ask in plain language. No pipeline to build, no tables to upload.
For developers, data scientists and data engineers who want an answer about their own data without leaving the editor — “Which signup source had the best week-4 retention?” · “What share of customers bought again within 60 days, by first product?”
How it works
Sign in, tick your tables, ask
1
Sign in
Install Acorn and run Acorn: Sign in with your BumbleB Crunch account. It opens your browser once; there is no address to type.
2
Your data
Under Your data, connect Postgres, MongoDB, or CSV and Parquet files, and tick the tables a conversation may read. Your workspace datasets are listed beside them.
3
Ask
Open the Acorn view and ask. Pick the level and who the answer is written for; stop a question at any time. Answers come with their charts and how each figure was counted.
Your data, on your computer
Read in place, logged under Queries
Acorn runs in VS Code’s Restricted Mode and reads no files in your workspace. It reads the connections you add, read-only, and lists every query under Queries.
Read where it lives
Your tables are never copied to your BumbleB Crunch workspace or to ours. Crunch sees the names, columns and size of the tables you pick, and reads the rows its queries return.
Reads only
Every query is checked to be one read-only statement, and Postgres is attached read-only. Connect with a database role that sees only what you want analysed.
Every query logged
Each query Crunch runs is listed with its SQL, its row count and how long it took.
Approve each query, if you like
Turn on Approve each query and nothing runs on your computer until you say so.
Secrets stay with you
Connections, passwords and connection strings stay on your computer, and so do the results a conversation keeps โ deleted after 30 days unused, or when you delete them.
Conversations you can reopen
Your questions and the answers are saved to your BumbleB Crunch account, so you can pick a conversation up again.

Free to install, on every plan
Acorn is free to install and included in every BumbleB Crunch plan, the free one too. It runs in VS Code and VSCodium on macOS, Windows and Linux. Rather have a standalone app? BumbleB Crunch Desktop reads the same sources.
