Security & your data
Your data, read on your terms.
Before you connect a store, a database or a customer export, you should know where it goes. BumbleB Crunch™ reads what you choose, the way you choose — and shows how it counted every number it gives back.
Where your data lives
Three places, three promises
In your workspace
Stored for you, kept apart
Website and store events, uploaded files, conversations and what BumbleB Crunch makes from them are kept in your own workspace, hosted in the United States. Each website’s events are kept separately, so one site’s data can be deleted on its own.
In your data lake
Read in place, never copied in
On plans that include it, tables you link from Postgres or an Iceberg catalog stay in your lake. BumbleB Crunch reads them where they are, with a sign-in you give it — use a read-only one.
On your computer
Read where it lives
With the Desktop app or Acorn for VS Code, your Postgres, MongoDB and files are read on your computer, read-only, and never copied to your workspace or to ours.
Data on your computer
Read-only, logged, and yours to approve
How Acorn for VS Code and BumbleB Crunch Desktop treat the data on your computer.
Read where it lives
Your tables are never copied to your BumbleB Crunch workspace or to ours. Crunch sees the names, columns and size of the tables you pick, and reads the rows its queries return.
Reads only
Every query is checked to be one read-only statement, and Postgres is attached read-only. Connect with a database role that sees only what you want analysed.
Every query logged
Each query Crunch runs is listed with its SQL, its row count and how long it took.
Approve each query, if you like
Turn on Approve each query and nothing runs on your computer until you say so.
Secrets stay with you
Connections, passwords and connection strings stay on your computer, and so do the results a conversation keeps — deleted after 30 days unused, or when you delete them.
Conversations you can reopen
Your questions and the answers are saved to your BumbleB Crunch account, so you can pick a conversation up again.
Controls you keep
You decide what leaves, and who sees it
Your rule for every field
Syncing a database from behind your firewall? The connector runs in your network and applies your rule to each field — drop, hash, round or send — before anything leaves. A field without a rule is dropped.
Hash user IDs in the page
On your website, user IDs can be hashed in the visitor’s browser, before any event is sent.
Roles and seats
On team plans, people sign in to your organization with their own account, and roles decide who can manage people, billing and data.
Exports off unless you allow them
Whether datasets can leave as files is an organization setting, off by default. Exports are capped and every one is logged.
Close your account yourself
The owner closes your organization’s account from the hub, confirmed by a code sent to them and to the admins.
An answer you can check
Every answer says how BumbleB Crunch read your question and how it counted — the window, the unit, the denominator — so a number can be checked before it is used.
