Seats

A seat is one person on a Team plan: how seats are assigned, the limits, and adding or removing them.

On a Team plan you pay per person, and each person’s place on the plan is called a seat. Knowing how seats work helps you plan ahead — for example, adding seats before a new hire’s first day so their invitation can go out. Seats are a Team plan idea; see pricing.

How seats are assigned

Every member of your organization — the owner included — holds one seat. You don’t hand seats out yourself: a seat is assigned automatically when someone joins.

Seats in the hub shows how many seats are:

  • bought — on your plan;
  • held — taken by people in your organization;
  • free — available for someone new.

How many seats you can have

  • Team plans have 2 to 10 seats. More than 10 is the Business plan — see Request a demo.
  • Until your business details are approved, an account is limited to 3 seats. The seat picker — at sign-up and under Subscriptions — stops at 3 and says so, and it opens up to your plan’s full range once we approve your details.

Add or remove seats

  1. Open Subscriptions → Change Plan / Seats.
  2. Choose the number of seats you want.

When you reduce seats:

  • Fewer seats take effect at the end of the billing cycle.
  • You can’t go below the number of people in your organization. To drop seats, remove people first.

Upgrading, downgrading and cancelling walks through the whole change, including when each kind is charged.

Good to know

Each seat comes with its own monthly included usage — the amount of Crunch use your plan covers each month before credits are spent.
