Every question you ask Crunch uses a little computing, and that use is measured. Your plan includes some usage every month; credits are what pay for usage beyond that. Knowing how the two fit together means you won’t be surprised mid-analysis — say, on the last week of the month when the team is busiest.
What a credit is worth
1,000 credits = US $1 of usage, whatever currency you pay in. So the value of a credit is the same whether you’re billed in rupees or US dollars.
Which gets spent first
Each month your plan includes usage for every seat — a seat is one person on your plan.
- That included usage is spent first.
- Credits are spent after it, once the included usage is used up.
The included usage resets on your billing date each month and does not roll over, so unused included usage from one month isn’t added to the next.
Buy credits
- In the hub, open Credits.
- Click Buy Credits and choose a package.
- Pay through Razorpay, the payment provider Crunch uses.
The credits arrive once the payment completes.
Earn credits
You can also earn credits, once each, by:
- verifying a domain — proving you own the site a connector collects from;
- having your business details approved.
How to tell what happened
Recent Activity on the Credits page lists every grant, purchase and use. If your balance looks different from what you expected, that list shows you each step that got it there.
When it runs out
You’ll get warnings before you hit the limit, so it shouldn’t catch you off guard:
- At 75% and 90% of your included usage, the usage meter turns amber, then red.
- At 90%, and again when your included usage is used up, you also get a notification in the bell and by email, with a link to buy credits. If you’re on a teammate’s Team plan, it says whose credits pay for usage past your allowance.
- When both your included usage and your credits are used up, new questions are refused until you add credits or upgrade.
Tip: When you see the 90% warning ahead of a busy stretch, buy credits then rather than waiting for questions to be refused.
