Crunch can answer with different AI models. A more capable model is worth it for a hard question; a lighter one makes your usage go further on everyday ones. You choose per message, so you can save the heavy model for the questions that need it.
Choose a model
- Find the model chip (the chip icon) in the message box. It shows the model for your next message.
- Click it and choose from the models your plan includes.
You can switch mid-conversation; the conversation’s history is kept.
What it does to your usage
Each model shows how much usage a message draws compared with your plan’s standard model — for example 0.2× or 15×. More capable models use more; lighter ones stretch your usage further.
Effort matters too: High effort and No time limit use more. See Thinking and effort for what those settings do.
