You want to know what a real sign-up cost you, campaign by campaign, not just what a click cost. To answer that, Crunch needs your ad spend sitting next to what visitors did on your site. There are no direct ad-platform connectors yet, but you don’t need one: an export from each platform is all it takes.
An export is the file an ad platform lets you download from its reports, usually a CSV or Excel sheet with one row per day and campaign.
What you’ll need
- Access to the reports in each ad platform you spend on (Google Ads, Meta, or any other).
- A way to upload a file to Crunch — see Uploading files.
- Your site’s events, if you want to ask about sign-ups or purchases — see Google Tag Manager tag.
Step by step
- Export your spend by day and by campaign. In each ad platform, download a report with the date, campaign, spend, clicks and impressions. Daily rows let you ask about any window later.
- Name the campaign column the way your site’s events name it. If your ad links carry
utm_campaign, call the export’s columnutm_campaigntoo. Two datasets only line up on a column they share, and differently named keys don’t line up. - Upload the file. Follow Uploading files. If two platforms export different layouts, upload them as two separate files — that’s fine.
- Ask across both. Pick your spend and your site’s events, then ask something like “what did a sign-up cost per campaign?” The Website & ad ROI guide walks through a full example.
Good to know
- Heads up: an export is a snapshot. When you want newer spend, upload a fresh export as a new version of the same dataset, rather than a brand-new one.
- Tip: if the campaign is called
campaignin the export andutm_campaignon your site, rename one before you upload. A campaign named differently in the two places won’t line up until you do.
